Xenophora
Xenophora

Xenophora are marine gastropods, found throughout the world in coastal regions. A collector and curator, most species of xenophora gather mollusc shells, stones, fragments of coral, sea-urchins, sponges and grains of sand from the sea floor and attach this material to its shell. Over time the xenophora’s shell becomes an assemblage of found objects, specific to their locality.
